For merchants, that is the important part: customers can open the camera, see the product in context and make a more confident purchase decision.
Today, a brand can add AR shoe try-on to Shopify, WooCommerce, a headless storefront or a custom app. You can start from existing 3D models, generate digital twins from product photography, publish a direct try-on link or integrate the experience through an API.

AR shoe try-on uses the customer’s camera to place a digital version of a shoe onto the shopper’s foot in real time.

Every real-time AR shoe try-on needs a digital representation of the product.
If your company already has 3D files, the process is straightforward. WEARFITS supports common formats such as GLB and OBJ. You upload the model, mark it for shoe try-on, check its position and scale, and preview how it behaves in AR.
If you do not have 3D models, you can generate them from product photography.
This matters because 3D production used to be one of the biggest barriers to scaling virtual try-on. Traditional manual modeling can take many hours per SKU and gets expensive quickly across hundreds of products. A visually good 3D model is not automatically a good virtual try-on asset.
For AR, the model needs the right scale, orientation and alignment. It also needs a properly configured occluder: a mask that determines which parts of the virtual shoe should appear in front of or behind the shopper’s real foot, leg or clothing.
Without good occlusion, the shoe can look pasted onto the camera image. With it, the product can sit naturally under a trouser cuff and interact correctly with the foot.

This distinction matters.
A virtual shoe that technically tracks the foot but looks obviously artificial may attract attention for a few seconds. A shoe that maintains realistic scale, position and visual interaction with the customer is much more useful as an ecommerce decision tool.

AR try-on shows appearance. By itself, it does not prove that a particular EU 39, UK 6 or US 8 will physically fit.
